Lessons from Yakima

Not necessarily a good thing to learn from some else.

Central Story= who is a prospective player

When a recruit is on campus.....that's the most important thing

defense= dictate

don't let people run their offense, coaches get frustrated and go into timeouts "Run our offense!"  They don't understand that we make it impossible

1 v1 ball pressure and close outs
force the ball out =sideline baseline

but always under control so you can change direction

ADD Denial,

only lob passes = we steal the ball in the air! That way the refs don't have a say in it

ADD Help,

Specify Help, make them active.

Sometimes if you're an elite scorer you have to understand how to fake it.   If your team wins but you only score 4 points, your probably not happy, but you better be able to fake so that everyone feels you're happy for the teams' success.

need to work on PG getting in the paint in between the elbows, have the control to set your shoulders to drive

     create a 1. Shot 2. assist 3. Switch

Defensively press looks ok- haven't worked enough on the back end, preventing lay ups, matching up from there.

must talk more= specifically change drills communication in transition

Jumping to the ball, having help side, Switching screens to stay in help, and talking through those situations

Zone offense= Irish/hwood/square  inbounds plays=Seattle, bigs high

Really want to work on Phoenix, but must have PG's   work on driving elbows in 1up.
