Jalen Rose answering machine message

When people called my cell phone I had a message, "Think about what you're about to say ADD, SUBTRACT, MULTIPLY, OR DIVIDE."

ADD= Something that going to improve my situation make it better, put something on the table

Subtract= You need something from me, you want to take something off the table

Multiply= Something huge, an opportunity for you, me or us.

Divide= You want to gossip, you want to talk someone down.

The negatives will distract you from the positives.

3. The team that recovered the higher number of rebounds was the winner 65 percent of the time.

4. The team that committed the higher number of personal fouls was the eventual winner in only 25 percent of the games.

5. The team that held the point advantage at halftime was the winner 74 percent of the time.

Statistics from 2005 Big Ten, ACC, SEC, Big 12, and CUSA Season

SOOOOOOO......
1. How are you getting better shots than your opponent?
2. How are you getting to the foul line and then how are you shooting once you get there
3.Rebounding simply must be an emphasis, you must beat your opponent here
4. How are you preventing fouling?
5. Get of to a good start, be the aggressors!

Jamie Dixon Offensive Rebounding

Dejuan Blair led the nation in offensive rebounding with 4 a game.  He had to go to the glass 25-35 times a night to get that done.  That's a ton of work for 4 rebounds, but that's what it takes.

Teaching and Coaching Phrases

(Offensively)This is HOW WE SCORE out of this play/offense..........(Defensively)This is how they Score

What is the AGGRESSIVE play in this situation............(defensively and offensively)

Your players must be able to answer those question in any situation, they must understand the OBJECTIVE of a given play.

Recent Thoughts

Stunting Practice (show the exact technique)

Offensive players dribbling in the paint, post or guards spinning : defenders spear the ball

TREAT DRIBBLES LIKE PASSES IN SHELL DRILL, JUMP TO THE BALL!

Key words= shrink the floor, stay attached, more help/less help

Dunlap Zone offense rules= active/trapping wide zone= stationary offense with quick ball movement
packed in slow moving zone= lots of player movement, overloads and drags

When in zones, look to match up, touch somebody

LATEST KP WORKOUTS

Since she is in the midst of rehab for her knees,  modifications needed to be made.

Lots of ball handling with her sitting down, cross under legs etc.

Blind shooting, talked about perfect muscle memory.

teaching Focus

Does your team understand how to come from behind? Play games/drills that require them to come from behind.

Jeff Van Gundy Defensive Basketball Edit

Bridgeland saying

Make sure your players define themselves by meeting standards and committing to the process instead of simply being outcome oriented.

Guard comes off the screen and when they read soft hedge or soft switch, stop the action.  Watch the defense, watch for them to stop then start again and win the race.
